Mamuka Mdinaradze has done a great deal for Georgian Dream, but he could also have made quite a few mistakes. This was how Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze commented on rumors regarding the possible impending arrest of the former head of Georgia’s State Security Service. In August, Mdinaradze announced his departure from politics, and in mid-October, he came under fire from staunch government supporters.
“He has done a great deal for the team, I can tell you that, and I want to emphasize it once again. No one is immune to mistakes except God, and accordingly, absolutely everyone makes mistakes — it is entirely natural that I, too, could have made quite a few,” Kobakhidze said.
He once again thanked Mdinaradze for “all the good deeds” done for the benefit of the team and the country.
When asked by journalists whether an investigation should be launched following repeated statements by former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili targeting Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Prime Minister noted that this is exclusively the prerogative of investigative authorities.
“The relevant agencies are handling this, and they are the ones who will make a decision on the matter. I do not even have the right to comment on this, as such decisions are made exclusively by investigative bodies,” Kobakhidze stated.
