Kobakhidze Pledges to Turn Georgia into Regional Financial and Tech Hub

Establishing Georgia as a regional financial and technology hub is among the top priorities of the Georgian government, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during his address at the Tbilisi Financial Summit.

According to the Prime Minister, such events are designed to foster “the further deepening of regional cooperation, the continued economic development of our country, the expansion of investment opportunities, and the strengthening of trade ties among the Middle Corridor nations.” Kobakhidze added that key initiatives by the government and the National Bank of Georgia are driving competition in the financial sector, as well as the advancement of innovations and digital services.

The Prime Minister separately addressed Georgia’s economic growth, noting that between 2021 and 2025 it averaged 9.3%.

“This trend continues this year as well: according to preliminary data, economic growth reached 7.6% in the first eight months of 2026. Notably, such strong economic performance is largely driven by the expansion of relatively high-productivity sectors, including the export of information and communication technology services.”

According to Kobakhidze, alongside positive macroeconomic trends, it is essential to highlight the increasing role of foreign direct investment in Georgia’s economic development, particularly in the financial sector, where attracting international capital enhances competitiveness, fosters the adoption of new technologies, and reinforces the country’s potential as a regional financial center.

“I am pleased that today Georgia is hosting the second Tbilisi Financial Summit. This major international platform was established last year and brings together representatives of the financial sector, the tech industry, and international institutions from around the globe. Notably, today’s event is attended by approximately 800 delegates from over 50 countries.”

Kobakhidze remarked that Georgia has served as a bridge between East and West for centuries, and today, “amid global economic and geopolitical shifts, this historical role takes on renewed significance.”

“Our strategic location, infrastructure, macroeconomic stability, and favorable investment climate provide a solid foundation for Georgia to establish itself as a regional hub for trade, logistics, finance, and technological innovation.”
