The aunt of 4-year-old Gabriela Lakhina, who died in Abkhazia, has been detained, reports Ekho Kavkaza, citing the de facto Prosecutor General’s Office.
It is reported that the detainee, Kristina Lakhina, while under the influence of alcohol and drugs, intentionally caused grievous bodily harm to the minor. The crime was allegedly committed with extreme cruelty and abuse against an individual known to be in a helpless state.
The detainee faces a prison sentence of 8 to 12 years.
According to social media reports, it was the aunt who brought the girl to the hospital. Kristina and her husband have four children of their own.
