Prices for the main ingredients of paska (Easter cake) have risen significantly in 2026, which in turn is reflected in the production cost of the pastry. In this regard, the online news outlet BusinessPressNews looked into how much it costs to prepare the cake in 2026.
Data from the National Statistics Service shows that in March 2026, compared to the same period last year, flour saw the highest price increase, followed by eggs, butter, and milk. Meanwhile, sugar and raisins have become cheaper.
Specifically, in March, flour prices rose by 13% year-on-year, eggs by 2%, butter by 1.4%, and commercially produced milk by 0.5%. At the same time, raisins became 0.34% cheaper, and sugar prices dropped by 12.6%.
In 2026, the price of 1 liter of commercially produced milk starts at 2.95 GEL and reaches 5.85 GEL. Meanwhile, the cost of 1 kg of flour starts at 2.35 GEL, and sugar starts at 1.75 GEL.
As for eggs, a pack of 10 in supermarkets costs between 4.6 and 5.9 GEL. In retail, the price of a single egg fluctuates between 40 and 50 tetri.
Notably, in supermarkets and markets, the cost of 1 kg of butter starts at 30 GEL and can reach approximately 45 GEL.
In supermarkets and retail outlets, the price of 1 kg of candied fruits this year starts at 12 GEL and reaches 13 GEL. As for raisins, their cost ranges from 9 to 13.4 GEL per kilogram.
