Ivane Goglidze, the owner and director of the “Batono” and “Kula” companies, has been released from custody, as confirmed by his lawyer Kakha Tsereteli, according to the Pirveli television company. The businessman left prison on bail of half a million lari (GEL) after his pretrial restrictive measure was modified.

Ivane Goglidze was detained several months ago by the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance. He is charged with supplying large quantities of adulterated and hazardous canned fish to security structures, specifically the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense.

The investigation alleges that the products, valued at over 380,000 lari, were unfit for human consumption.

Goglidze has been charged under Article 197 of the Criminal Code, which covers the falsification of food products that could pose a threat to human life and health. This offense carries a penalty of five to seven years of imprisonment.
