A clash broke out between police and farmers in Marneuli (Kvemo Kartli region), IPN reports. According to the protesters, they are struggling to sell vegetables grown in the region and are forced to sell their produce at prices below cost.

The protesters attempted to block a road as a sign of protest; the attempt escalated into a confrontation with law enforcement officers.

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) reported that two people were detained during the protest under Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which stipulates liability for disobeying a lawful order or demand from a law enforcement officer, a serviceman, an officer of the Special State Protection Service, an enforcement officer, or an employee of the Special Penitentiary Service while in the line of duty.
