In occupied Tskhinvali, Eduard Mamiev, a member of the special forces of the region’s so-called Ministry of Defense, was beaten. The incident occurred near a police station on May 9. His grandmother, Fatima Gabaraeva, a distinguished teacher, appealed to the de facto Prosecutor General’s Office to provide a legal assessment of the security forces’ actions. According to her, her grandson approached the scene after hearing reports of a crowd gathering following a traffic accident involving security forces. “He simply went there to find out what was happening because he also works in the special forces. My students were in the crowd, and they confirmed that my grandson was targeted and beaten,” Gabaraeva stated. In occupied Tskhinvali, a member of the special forces of the region’s so-called Ministry of Defense, Eduard Mamiev, was beaten.
The woman claims that the family previously had a conflict with the de facto MVD: several months ago, Eduard Mamiev’s father was dismissed without explanation.
She also insists that her grandson was sober during the incident but lost consciousness several times.
“He lost consciousness three times; they brought him around and beat him again,” the woman said.
Gabaraeva emphasized that the beating continued after he was taken into the building: members of the de facto OMON (Special Purpose Mobile Unit) entered and continued to use force, including in the restroom.
The woman also stated that the victim recognized some of the attackers and claims that the so-called Minister of Internal Affairs, Erik Mamiev, was among them.
At this stage, reports “Sapa,” the victim Eduard Mamiev is undergoing treatment in Vladikavkaz. He has been diagnosed with multiple hematomas, abrasions on his head, and a broken nose. He is scheduled for further examination, including a CT scan.
According to relatives, he has been suspended from duty following the incident, as have other participants in the events.
