The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia reports that Georgian and Spanish law enforcement agencies have carried out a joint special operation codenamed CACHABA, resulting in the detention of 13 individuals in Spain.
The operation was the result of nearly a year of cooperation and coordination between the security forces of both countries, with the participation of the Georgian police attaché.
According to the investigation, the detainees are linked to a series of 27 apartment burglaries committed across various regions of Spain.
The criminal group was divided into two units:
- one directly responsible for the burglaries;
- the other tasked with selling the stolen property in various cities across the country.
Simultaneous arrests took place at nine addresses in several Spanish cities, including Madrid, Valencia, Guadalajara, and Alicante.
The investigation is proceeding under Articles 510, 301, and 570 of the Spanish Penal Code, which carry a maximum penalty of up to eight years in prison.
