Mikheil Kavelashvili, the sixth President of Georgia, announced that a meeting was held at the Orbeliani Presidential Palace with foreign guests who arrived in the country for the enthronement of Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III.
Kavelashvili stated that the residence hosted representatives of Orthodox Churches from various countries, including the Czech Lands and Slovakia (Metropolitan Rastislav), as well as delegations from the Alexandrian, Russian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Greek, Albanian, Polish, and Ukrainian Orthodox Churches.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church, including the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, metropolitans, bishops, and other clergy members.
«During the meeting, we focused on the role of Orthodox values and noted that in today’s world, which is full of challenges, the role of Orthodox Churches in strengthening peace, humanism, and protecting traditional values is becoming even more significant,» — Kavelashvili wrote.
He also thanked the guests for expressing their condolences regarding the passing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.
