Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze states in his report to parliament that starting March 1, 2027, it will gradually become mandatory to equip vehicles used for regular domestic passenger transport with tachographs and speed limiters.
The head of government reports that during the reporting period, the reform of intercity passenger transport and bus stations continued, with licensing underway for operators involved in regular domestic passenger transport, alongside the certification of bus stations.
“In order to improve passenger safety, reduce road accidents, enhance road safety, and create a competitive environment in the road transport sector, starting March 1, 2027, it will gradually become mandatory to equip vehicles used for regular domestic passenger transport with tachographs and speed-limiting devices.
Additionally, in the area of periodic vehicle technical inspections, monitoring of the inspection process is being actively conducted starting from June 2025 to increase the efficiency of state control.
Furthermore, as part of the technical inspection reform, regulations are being drafted to make periodic technical inspections mandatory for Category L vehicles (motorcycles, tricycles, and quadricycles),” the document states.
