De Facto Prime Minister of Tskhinvali Resigns

The de facto Prime Minister of the Tskhinvali region, Dzambolat Tadtaev, has resigned. This occurred at a meeting of the so-called government, which was attended by the de facto leader of Tskhinvali, Alan Gagloev.

The meeting focused on the further development of Moscow and Tskhinvali and the implementation of the agreements reached between them.

Gagloev accepted Tadtaev’s resignation. Until the appointment of a new “prime minister” of the occupied region, his deputy — Konstantin Dzhioev — will temporarily perform his duties.

Meanwhile, media reports indicate that the current “state adviser” Marat Kambolov, who is considered a Russian protégé, could become the new de facto prime minister. It is also reported that the Kremlin is preparing him for the position of de facto leader of Tskhinvali after the so-called elections in the occupied region in 2027.

As a reminder, Dzambolat Tadtaev was appointed to the post of “prime minister” in February 2026. In late January 2026, the de facto leader of Tskhinvali dissolved the “government,” dismissing its “head” — Konstantin Dzhussoev, reportedly “at his own request” (he had held the so-called position since June 20, 2022 — Ed.). Tadtaev was temporarily tasked with performing his duties.
