“Terror in Georgia: total Russian-style censorship right before everyone’s eyes!” — this is how the fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, commented on the decision of the Tbilisi City Court, which sentenced journalist Vakho Sanaia to 14 days of administrative arrest for a social media post.
“Arresting journalists for criticizing politicians is not law, but pure authoritarian paranoia!” Zourabichvili wrote on social media.
As a reminder, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced Vakho Sanaia to 14 days of administrative arrest over a social media post concerning Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili and MP Vladimer Bozhadze.
