Zurab Menteshashvili, convicted of repeatedly blocking Rustaveli Avenue, has been released from a penitentiary facility. Menteshashvili was set free after serving a nine-month sentence.
To recall, Zurab Menteshashvili was detained on November 1, 2025. An investigation was opened under Part 1 of Article 347 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which establishes liability for violating the rules on holding assemblies or demonstrations.
Earlier, on October 24, 2025, Menteshashvili had already been held administratively liable for a similar act and sentenced to seven days of administrative detention. A criminal case was brought against him due to the repeated commission of a similar violation.
