Former Prosecutor General of Georgia Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze has stated that the West is attempting to instill hatred toward Russia among the country’s population, but the reasonable segment of society will always side with the Russian Federation. Russian state news agency TASS published another excerpt from an interview with the commander of the newly formed “Georgievsky” unit, which is taking part in the so-called “special military operation” (SVO) against Ukraine.
“Russia has always stood by Georgia during the most difficult times, when the very preservation of statehood was at stake. And no matter how hard Western handlers try today to instill hatred of Russia in Georgians, sensible people—and there are very many of them in Georgia—will always side with historical truth rather than false Western narratives,” Romanov-Partskhaladze said.
Earlier, the former Georgian prosecutor general stated that with the launch of the so-called SVO, he could not stand aside and decided to assist Russian servicemen, as well as residents of the Donbas and regions bordering Ukraine. According to him, the “Georgievsky” unit attracts volunteers who value the shared history of Russia and Georgia and their “centuries-old brotherhood.” At the same time, he labeled fighters of the “Georgian Legion” combatting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) as “war criminals.”
It should also be recalled that criminal proceedings have been launched against Romanov-Partskhaladze in Georgia under Article 109 of the Criminal Code, which entails organizing premeditated murder for hire and for mercenary motives. The former prosecutor general is charged with orchestrating an assassination attempt against businessman Levan Djangveladze.
Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze lost his Georgian citizenship after acquiring a Russian passport. Georgian authorities noted that this complicates his extradition to his homeland.
