The Georgian government’s goal is to fully complete the construction of all highways by the end of 2031, with the Tbilisi bypass road being one of the key components of the project, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced.
According to him, the plan envisions a continuous four-lane highway extending by 2030 from Sarpi on the Turkish border to the Red Bridge on the border with Azerbaijan and Sadakhlo on the border with Armenia.
“We have a clear goal—to fully complete the construction of all highways by the end of 2031. An integral part of this plan is the Tbilisi bypass road, which is vital for facilitating cross-border transit. <…>
Among other things, this route will bypass Tbilisi, which is crucial for easing the capital’s traffic congestion. Consequently, these investments will certainly be carried out,” Kobakhidze stated.
