Students from Ilia State University have announced the conclusion of a 100-hour LIVE marathon in support of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. During the campaign, they managed to raise over 1.67 million lari (1,670,938.48 lari)—an amount the organizers described as unexpected even for themselves.
All funds will be directed to the families of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. At the same time, fundraising will continue—the organizers stated that every subsequent lari transferred will also go toward helping the children.
“This is the moment when, with boundless joy, we can say—we were wrong,” the students wrote on social media, noting that before the start of the marathon, such results seemed impossible.
The organizers thanked the residents of Georgia, students, emigrants, businesses, companies, and organizations that participated in fundraising and spreading information about the campaign. It was noted that society united around the idea that children with Duchenne syndrome deserve access to the necessary treatment.
As a reminder, the “1 Lari” charity campaign launched on May 21. Initially, the students planned to raise 100,000 lari, but soon both large and small companies began joining the initiative.
