According to Berdimuhamedov, the parties reaffirmed their mutual readiness to further develop cooperation.
“We have agreed to expand political contacts, strengthen diplomatic cooperation, and ensure the long-term development of our relations. Georgia is one of Turkmenistan’s main economic partners, and cooperation between our countries is of great importance. Turkmenistan highly appreciates Georgia’s constructive position at the international level and its contribution to the positive development of the region. I would like to express my gratitude to the Prime Minister of Georgia for this,” Berdimuhamedov stated.
He also noted that the sides intend to step up cooperation within international organizations, primarily the United Nations, and to elevate bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.
Particular attention during the talks was paid to the development of trade and economic ties. According to Berdimuhamedov, the countries possess significant potential to increase mutual trade volumes and are interested in expanding business contacts.
The Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of joint transport and logistics projects. He noted the promise of international routes, including the Lapis Lazuli Corridor connecting Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, as well as the transport route across the Caspian and Black Seas involving Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Romania.
In addition, Berdimuhamedov announced that the parties will continue cooperation within the framework of the TRACECA international transport corridor, and are also holding talks on utilizing the port infrastructure of the Caspian and Black Seas for mutually beneficial cooperation.
The President of Turkmenistan also expressed interest in expanding partnerships in energy, telecommunications, industry, the textile sector, construction, and other economic sectors.
Special attention, according to him, is being paid to humanitarian cooperation. The sides intend to develop cultural exchanges, scientific and educational interaction, as well as cooperation between the universities of the two countries.
Berdimuhamedov recalled that the current visit coincided with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia, congratulated the Georgian side on this occasion, and expressed confidence that the agreements reached would contribute to the further strengthening of the bilateral partnership.
