The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has welcomed the decision of the Government of the Republic of Nauru to terminate diplomatic relations with Sokhumi and Tskhinvali.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia welcomes the decision adopted on July 21, 2026, by the executive body of the Republic of Nauru, the Cabinet of Ministers of Nauru, to terminate diplomatic relations ‘between the Republic of Nauru and the Republic of South Ossetia, also known as the State of Alania’ and ‘between the Republic of Nauru and the Republic of Abkhazia.’
This decision once again confirms that respect for and compliance with the norms of international law form the basis of healthy international relations.
Georgia expresses its readiness to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nauru and to promote the intensification of bilateral cooperation based on shared interests,” the Foreign Ministry stated in its release.
