Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset. The talks were held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to the Government Administration, the parties discussed “the long-standing fruitful cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe.” Particular emphasis was placed on the organization’s significant support in strengthening democratic institutions, protecting human rights, and ensuring the rule of law in the country.
“The Prime Minister reaffirmed commitment to the principles of the Council of Europe and emphasized that Georgia will continue to foster the development of dialogue and multilateral partnership.
Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the Government of Georgia attaches fundamental importance to constructive dialogue with the Council of Europe and expresses its readiness to further develop mutually respectful relations with the organization.”
The meeting was also attended by Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN David Bakradze.
